Work well with hands, then knead on floured board. Shape into loaf, cut 44” thick, bake a few minutes in a good oven. CHRISTMAS ROCKS 1 Ib. dates 114 cups brown sugar 1 Ib. cherries 14 tsp vanilla 3 rings candied pineapple 2 eggs 14 lb. walnuts 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour Y lb. brazil nuts or walnuts 1 tsp salt chop each of these and sprinkle 1 tsp baking powder Y%% cup flour over them 1 tsp cinnamon 1 cup butter Cream butter well; add sugar, cream, add vanilla. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition. Sift dry ingredients and blend. Fold in fruit. Drop onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 325° for 20 mins. PORCUPINES 1 tbsp butter 1 cup chopped walnuts 14 cup white sugar 1 cup chopped dates 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla pinch salt shredded cocoanut Cream butter, sifted sugar and salt together; then beat in egg, add nuts, dates and flavouring. Form into small balls; roll in cocoanut and bake on slightly greased cookie sheet 15 to 20 minutes.
