Brooks l cup raisins boiled in 1 cup water and cooled 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup shortening 2 eggs | 1 tsp soda 2 tsp cocoa 1/2 cup crushed walnuts 1 1/2 cups flour sifted with soda vanilla to taste QUEEN ELIZABETH CAKE - Mrs. Chad. Pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 cup chopped dates and 1 tsp soda Let stand while mixing 1/4 cup butter 1 cup white sugar Add | 1 beaten egg 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 cups sifted flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup nuts Add all to date mixture. Bake in 8"' pan, oven at 350° for f hour. Icing. 5 tbls brown sugar 5 tbls cream 2 tbls butter Boil for 3 minutes. Beat. Spread on cake. Add coconut or nuts. CHEESE CAKE ~- Ruth Hodgkinson. 30 graham wafers 1/4 cup of butter 1/2 cup of white sugar 1/4 cup cherries 2 pkg of Philadelphia 2 eggs cream cheese Roll wafers, melt butter and mix with wafers. Combine eggs, cherries, cheese and sugar. Use 3/4 of wafers mixture in 8 inch pan and pour the liquid on top, sprinkle remaining crumbs on top and place in oven 325° for 15 min. no longer. When cool place in the refrigerator.
