FOURNIER 1 cup flour 3 tbsp. butter I cup sugar 1 egg 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 14 tsp. soda milk 5 tbsp. cocoa ; Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and soda. Melt cocoa and butter over warm water. Break egg into cup and fill with milk. Pour egg mixture into dry ingredients and beat Add melted cocoa, vanilla, and beat. Bake in 325 degree oven about half an hour. FUDGE CAKE By V. M. GUY % cup melted butter 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup nuts 1 egg 2 tbsp. cocoa 1% cup flour Stir all together. Bake for 25 minutes in a moderate oven. ICING: 2 tbsp. cocoa 1 cup icing sugar 2 tbsp. boiling water 1 tablespoon butter Cream butter, add icing sugar and cocoa. Add water and vanilla last. Spread on cake while cake is hot. GINGERBREAD By MRS. A. H. GUNN 2 cups pastry flour 1 egg 34 tsp. soda 4 tbsp. shortening 1% cup brown sugar 1% tsp. ginger Il4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 cup sour milk ly tsp. cloves 14, cup molasses Put shortening, sugar, molasses, and spices in a bowl. Stand the bowl in hot water, or over slight heat, and as the shortening melts, beat the mixture vigorously until it is smooth, and creamy. Cool—add egg, beaten light, and alternate the milk with the flour, salt and soda, sifted together. Bake if a moderate oven, 325 degrees or less, for 45-50 minutes.
