Some 50 to 60 guests sat down to enjoy a satisfying repast prepared by the ladies: Mrs. N. Hill, Mrs. C. T, Ba- ker, Mrs. T. Bennett, Mrs. H. FP, Thorn Mrs. W. Coutts, Mrs. S, Bedlow, and Mrs. Barrett, who also presided at the Piano. Secoutmaster Hill occupied the chair, and directed the program of toasts, speeches, and music. Toasts to “The King’’ and ‘‘Canada’’ proposed’ by the Scoutmaster were responded to by the singing of the ‘‘God Save the King’? and ‘‘O Canada’”’ In proposing a toast to the Boy Scouts’ organization, Scoutmaster Hill briefly outlined the purpose of the or- ganization and the commencement of scouting for boys. Assistant District Commissioner Corbett of New West- minster responded and also proposed the toast to the Chief Scout. Two mu- sical numbers were sunvlied by Scouts Sidney Swift and Howard Benedict. Assistant Scoutmaster R. P. Armstrong of First New Westminster Troop, a King’s Scout, gave a talk on ‘‘Gold Cords’” as a scout objective. Gold cords he pointed out, represented the highest point in scouting obtainable. Messrs.
