The temperature should vary but little from day to day and the atmosphere must not ke still but have a free circulation of air. Cabbages. Solid, medium-sized cabbages free from growth- cracks and frost injury are best for storage. The outer loose leaves should be removed and the stems trimmed neatly close to the heads. They should be harvested when thoroughly dry. A dry atmosphere and a temperature around 34 deg. F. are most suitable for the stor- age of cabbage. Where only a small quantity is stored the heads may be packed in boxes or tins and covered with dried leaves. Wrapping each head in newspaper also gives good results pro- vided there is a free circulation of air around them, and the heads are perfectly dry when wrapped. +44 171
