Wonderful Shortcake~< C treat for the shortcake—the kind thousands of women Canada are making today; they’ve found a per- —J fect shortening—Domestic. > Fresh, delicate, purely vegetable every food in which it is used—and so economical, moh ’ Strawberry Shortcake 2 cups flour. 4 level teaspoons baking powder. % teaspoon salt. 5 tablespoons Domestic Shortening. &% cup milk. - 2 tablespoons sugar. 1 quart strawberries. % pint 32% cream, Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add sugar; add Domestic Shortening and mix thoroughiy with a fork. Add milk to make a soft dough. Divide in half. Shape into two rounds to fit a deep layer cake pan. Place one round in the pan. Spread with soft butter. Place other round on top. Bake in a moder- ate oven at 375° about 25 minutes. Split while hot and butter. Spread crushed berries between layers andontop.
