. ; SPAGHETTI SAUCE (For entertaining - wonderful .) 2 medium onions , chopped 3 Tbsp. salad oil (about I cup) . 2 peeled cloves garlic, crushed Brown onions and garlic in salad oil. Add: 1 6-0z. can tomato paste 1 lb. finely ground hamburger The beef is not browned before adding the sauce in this recipe. Add: 1 #2 1/2 can tomatoes 1 tsp. salt 1 can condensed tomato soup 1/8.tsp. pepper 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours over low heat. Serves six. Cook spaghetti as directed. Good with a green salad. Note: You cook spaghetti, put on platter, and put sauce in centre, making a slight ring of the spaghetti. Mrs. P. A. Rosenfeld SWEET AND SOUR SPARERIBS 2 Tbsp. fat 1/3 c. vinegar 2 lb. short ribs 1 Tbsp. soy sauce (optional) 3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. green pepper strips 2 Tbsp. cornstarch 1/4 c. thinly sliced onion 1 tsp. salt 1 tin pineapple chunks, drained 1/2 c. pineapple juice 1/2 c. water Brown ribs in fat. Add water, cover and cook slowly till tender, approximately 2 hours. Add more water as necessary. Drain off fat. Combine sugar and cornstarch, add salt, pineapple juice, water, vinegar and soy sauce. Cook over low heat till thick, stir- ring constantly. Pour over hot ribs and simmer for 10 minutes. Add pepper, onion and pineapple. Cook 5 minutes. Serve hot over cooked egg noodles or rice.
