| [a — e- - o ~- P it OATMEAL COOKIES Mix together 3 cups rolled oats 1 cup sifted flour 1 cup brown sugar 14 cup crushed cornflakes - 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. soda Rub in 1 cup shortening, lard or butter Add water, enough to hold mixture together Roll thin, cut with a cookie cutter and bake in a moderate oven. Catherine Ross, Minnedosa REFRIGERATOR COOKIES Mix together thoroughly 1 cup soft shortening 14 cup brown sugar 2 cup sugar 2 eggs Sift together and stir in 234 cups sifted flour 14 tsp. soda 1 tsp. salt 2 to 3 tsps. cinnamon Mix in 14 cup chopped walnuts or blanched almonds Mix thoroughly with hands. Press and mold into a long smooth roll about 21% inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and chill until stiff. With a thin, sharp knife, cut thin slices.
