Penny, Kerrobert) 1 cup flour Y% teaspoon salt 3%, cup grated cheese 6 tablespoons butter 1 egg yolk Cayenne pepper Y% teaspoon baking powder. Sift salt, baking powder, and cay- enne into flour. Work the cheese and butter into the flour. Add egg yolk. Roll out % inch thick and cut in strips. Bake in hot oven until straw color. MINCEMEAT COOKIES (Mrs. John Hartley, Saskatoon) 14 cup fat 1% cups sugar 2 eges 1 teaspoon salt 1%, cup sour milk 1 teaspoon soda 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 14 teaspoon nutmeg 14 teaspoon cloves 1 cup mincemeat. Cream fat and sugar. Add eggs, salt, sour milk which has the soda dis- solved in it. Add flour, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg, and do not mix more than -necessary. Lastly add mincemeat. Drop from spoon onto a greased baking sheet and bake in slow oven for 15 minutes.
