SPICED CRAN-APPLE JUICE 1 (32 oz.) bottle cranberry juice 8 cloves cocktail 1 tbsp. grated orange rind 3 cinnamon sticks 1 (48 oz.) can apple juice COMBINE first four ingredients in large saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil 10 minutes. Strain. ADD apple juice; chill. YIELD: —12-16 servings (small glasses or punch cups). FRANKFURTER STICKS 12 (about 1 Ib.) skinless weiners wooden sticks 2 eggs, beaten vegetable oil for frying 144 cups corn flake crumbs CUT weiners in half. Dip in egg, then roll in crumbs. Dip in egg again and roll in crumbs. *INSERT wooden sticks in each weiner. Let dry 4 hour before frying. HEAT oil (1” depth in large frying pan is sufficient) to 375°F. DEEP FRY 4 or 5 weiners (sticks go in too) at a time until lightly browned— just a few seconds. Remove from fat and drain on absorbent paper. Keep warm in oven until ready to serve. Push sticks through small paper coasters for novel effect. YIELD: —24 Note: Weiners can be breaded several hours ahead and fried just before serving. *If wooden sticks are not available, ask your druggist to sell you several dozen applicator sticks. They are approximately 6” long and 1/,;,¢” diameter. CHEESE BREAD (No kneading required) 4 cups Robin Hood Pre-Sifted 1 tbsp. shortening All Purpose Flour 2 pkgs. active dry yeast 1 cup milk 1 cup warm (not hot) water 3 tbsps. sugar 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 1 tbsp. salt 14 cup grated raw carrot MEASURE flour (without sifting) onto square of waxed paper. SCALD milk. Add sugar, salt and shortening and cool to lukewarm. SOAK yeast in warm water in large mixing bowl for 5 minutes. ADD lukewarm milk mixture, grated cheese and carrot and 114 cups of flour. Beat with rotary beater until smooth. Add remaining flour and beat with wooden spoon until well blended. COVER bowl with greased waxed paper and let rise in warm place (75°-85°F.) until doubled (about 45 minutes). STIR batter down and beat 4% minute. Turn into greased 2 qt. casserole. No second rising necessary. BAKE at 375°F. for about 1 hour. 10 minutes before end of baking period brush top of bread with mixture of 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp. water and 1 tsp. sugar. TURN out on rack to cool. 12
