Choco-nut Date Cake 1 cup snipped dates 1 cup boiling water 134 cups all purpose flour 1 T. cocoa 1 cup butter, or 2 butter and 2 margarine Y2 t. baking soda Y2 t. baking powder Y2 t. salt 1 cup sugar 2 eggs beaten 1 t. vanilla 1 pkg. 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 34, cup coarsely chopped walnuts Pour boiling water over dates, set aside to cool. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and baking powder. Cream sugar and butter, add eggs, vanilla and flour mixture, and dates. Pour into greased pan 13x9x2. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts evenly over top of cake. Bake at 350 oven for 40 or 50 mins. This freezes well, and nice warmed up in slow oven before serving. Mrs. Vivien Tucker Ste. Rose, Man. Coffee Cake Y2 cups brown sugar Y4 cup white sugar 1 t. cinnamon mix and set aside Y2 cup butter or oil cup white sugar eggs cups flour t. baking powder t. soda t. vanilla pinch of salt 1 cup sour cream Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add dry ingredients with sour cream and vanilla. Use Angel Cake tin ungreased. Pour half of batter then some topping of sugar and cinnamon then add balance of the batter and remaining of topping. Stir topping a little in the batter each time.
