REFRIGERATOR COOKIES i c. shortening, marga- l c. chopped walnuts rine or butter tee Cc. coconut 2c. brown sugar 3 €; flour 2 eggs, beaten 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda Melt shortening in saucepan, Add sugar, eggs, nuts, coconut and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and stir to blend. Knead well. Shape into two rolls. Wrap in plastic bag or moisture-proof, vapor-proof paper. Refrigerate until required. Slice thinly. Bake on greased cookie sheet in moderate oven, 350 degrees, for 15-20 minutes or until brown. Yield: 6-8 dozen cookies. (Chopped cherries may be added. ) Mrs. G. A. Health Bran 1/2 tsp. baking soda Cream butter and sugar together, add eggs and beat well before adding the flavoring, sifted flour, soda, baking powder which have been sifted together, add Bran and nuts.
