PRUNE CAKE 1 ec. of butter or shortening 1% tsp. cinnamon 1% c. sugar 1% tsp. of nutmeg 3 eggs 4 tsp. of cloves 1 ec. of sour milk or cream 4 tsp. of allspice 1 tsp. of baking soda 1 tsp. of vanilla _ 1 tsp. of baking powder 1 c. of cooked prunes 2 c. of flour 1 ec. of chopped walnuts. Beat eggs with sugar thoroughly, add the cooked prunes and stir alternately melted butter with milk and dry ingredients, which have been sifted. PINEAPPLE SLICES 2 c. flour 2 cc. fine dry coconut 2 tbsp. icing sugar 2 eggs %e. granulated sugar 2 ec. granulated sugar 24 ¢. butter 2 tbsp. melted butter. 2 cups drained pineapple Blend flour and butter, add icing sugar. Pat hard on cookie sheet. Mix pine- apple and granulated sugar and spread on pastry. Mix cocoanut, eggs, granu- lated sugar, and butter, and spread on filling. HAWIIAN DATE CAKE 1% ec. shortening 1% tsp. soda 1% c. brown sugar 1% tsp. salt 2% c. sifted flour 1% c. oatmeal Crumb together shortening, brown sugar, sifted flour, soda, salt, and oatmeal. Put half the crumbs in a baking dish 9 x 13 inches and press firmly. FILLING %4 lb. dates 114 c. water. 34 c. sugar ) Boil all these ingredients until thick (about 10 to 15 minutes). APPLE CAKE 1% c. pastry flour 2 beaten eggs % ec, brown sugar 2 tbsp. milk % c. softened butter 1 tbsp. melted butter 1 ec. white sugar Pinch of salt 1 ec. cocoanut Applesauce. Mix flour with sugar, work softened butter in with it. Spread the mixture in pan. Bake 10 to 15 minutes. Cool, cover with cold, thick applesauce. Mix sugar, cocoanut, eggs, milk, butter, and salt.
