ICELAND CAILA LILLIES 3 eggs 1 tbsp. hot water 3/4 cup white sugar 1 cup sifted flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt , 1 tsp. vanilla Beat eggs until thick and lemon colored. Add hot water, then sugar slowly while beating. Fold in the flour, well sifted with baking powder and salt. Drop scant tea~ spoonsful on a buttered tin, making round flat cakes not touching. Bake quickly but not brown as they must be soft and pliable. Shape while hot from the outside into the shape of calla lillies. DEERFEET egg whites at room temp. tbsp. sugar cups fine coconut cup icing sugar tbsp. strong coffee tbsp. butter squares melted semi-sweet chocolate MOMMY eNO < L Beat egg whites until stiff, grad- ually add sugar. Fold in coconut. Using pastry tube or spatula, shape batter into fingers 3" long and 3/8" wide on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven 375° - 8 minutes. Cool on pan. Remove with spatula and place together in pairs with filling. Make filling by creaming butter and icing sugar and mix to smooth paste with coffee. BUTTER CRISP COOKIES 2 tbsp. melted butter i/o tapr seit 2 1/2 cups rolled oats a tsp. almond extract 4 cup sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp. baking powder Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks. Beat briskly. Add rolled oats, salt, baking powder and blend. Add almond extract and beaten egg whites. Blend. Drop on greased baking sheet. Leave room for them to spread. Form into small balls, dip in egg white Slightly beaten, then chopped wal- nuts or coconut. take a dent on top of each ball. CHOCOLATE DROPS Melt 1 package of Dot chocolate in boiler and add 2 beaten eggs, 1 cup icing sugar, 12 marshmallows (cut small) and 1/2 cup walnuts. Drop on to wax paper and let stand 12 hours. ee
