Catholic Mission

The Catholic Mission was founded at Churchill in 1930. It is the central point
from which the thirteen other Missions established around the Hudson Bay are
supplied. The first Catholic Mission in Eskimoland was opened at Chesterfield
Inlet in 1912; since then a hospital and boarding school for the Eskimos have
been erected. Thereare actually thirty four Catholic Missionaries settled on the

shores or near the Hudson Bay.
