Men Every Month RECRUITING REQUIREMENTS EXPLAINED; SEVERAL UNITS SEEK ADDITIONAL MEN Colonel Ralston’s speech of April 8th was greatly welcomed at Mili- tary District Headquarters at Vie- toria, as it is felt that it will serve to bring home to the people of British Columbia the urgent nec- essity that exists for recruits at the present time. Colone] Ralston anticipated that the number of re- cruits required in Canada will to- tal betwen 5000 and 6000 each month. It is estimated at local Headquarters that British Colum- bia’s requirements will be in the neighborhood of 500 or 600 men each month, as besides reinforce- ment quotas, there will be a steady call for men to keep the local units filled up. MEN REQUIRED In addition to the calls made by Colonel Ralston, recruiting is being actively carried on for the new 62nd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, an Ordnance Workshop Section, also well over 100 men are still re- quired by the 9th Armoured Regi- ment, which, it will be recalled, was recently re-organized from the Sth Canadian Motorcycle Regiment. Men are required for all the Ser- vices ennumerated by Colonel Ral- ston, namely: Artillery, Engineers, Signals, Armoured Corps, Army Service Corps, Medical Corps, Ord- nance Corps, Provost Corps, and Forestry Corps. NEED TRADESMEN The results obtained during March were quite gratifying, but approximately 1000 men are still IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (Continued from front Page) southwest side of No. 1 Highway east. As'stated by the Minister of Na- Ltional Defence, in his broadcast, the British Columbia Reserve Units have ail been allotted definite quotas of men required for im- mediate service, and it is expected that a large number of the present reserve forces will be reporting for active duty in the near future.
