oe « Black Bottom Pie cont. 1 cup of the custard and to it add 1$ squares of unsweetened chocolate (melted) and 1 tsp. vanilla. Pour this onto baked crust. To remaining hot custard add gelatine which has been dissolved in water. Cool but do not allow to stiffen. Make a meringue of the egg whites, 14 c. white sugar, cream of tartar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Blend well and pour over the chocolate layer. Chill until set. Spread thinly with whipped cream and shaved chocolate over top. serves 12 and is not expensive, Mrs. G. A. Horton PINEAPPLE DESSERT 2 c. crushed honey graham wafers 4c. melted butter 2c. icing sugar 1 tin crushed pineapple 4c. butter 4 pt. whipping cream 1 egg, unbeaten Mix graham wafers and 4c. butter (melted) thoroughly and press into a pan (9" x 12") and bake for 10 minutes at 300°. Cool well. Mix icing sugar, butter and egg well and spread on graham wafer crust. Fold pineapple into whipping cream and spread on as a second layer. Place in refrigerator overnight.
