CHERRY BREAD 1 egg 2c. bread flour lc. brown sugar 2 tsp. baking powder butter, size of egg salt 1 c. milk and cherry juice 1/2 c. walnuts from small bottle of cherries from bottle, cut up cherries Bake in moderate oven 45 minutes. Johnson DATE NUT LOAF 3/4 c. boiling water 1 egg 1 c. sliced dates 3/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. soda 1 Tbsp. melted butter 1 3/4 c. flour 1/2 ¢. chopped nuts 1/2 tsp. salt l tsp. vanilla Pour boiling water over dates, add soda and let stand several hours or overnight. Beat egg, add sugar and butter then dry ingredients alternately with date mix- ture. Bake in moderate oven for 1 hour. © Mrs. Geo. Hutchinson BANANA LOAF DELUXE Fe 2c. sifted all purpose 1/4 c. shortening flour 1/4 c. butter 3 tsp. baking powder 2 eggs 1/2 tsp. salt + ce ‘stigar 3/4 c. glazed cherries 1 c. mashed bananas 1/2 c. chopped walnuts 1 tsp. lemon juice Sift dry ingredients together. Combine cherries and nuts. Flour with 1/4 cup dry ingredients. : Cream butter and shortening thoroughly; add Sugar and mix well. Add eggs and beat two minutes. Combine mashed bananas with lemon juice; blend into creamed ingredients. Add remainder of dry ingredients. Beat two minutes, fold in cherries and nuts. Turn into well greased loaf pan.
