BUTTER MALLOW SQUARES Minty Batchelor Shortbread base: 3/4 c. butter 1/3 c. brown sugar 1-1/2 «; ficur Cream butter and sugar together. tir in flour until mixture forms balls of dough. Press into 9x12" pan and prick welle Bake at 350F for 25/30 min. or until golden brown. Soften 2 tbsp. plain gelatine together with 1/2 c. cold water. Boil together 2 minutes: 2 ce white sugar 1/2 c. warm water Dissolve gelatine in hot syrup and beat until very stiff. Add: 1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries 1 tsp. almond extract 1/2 c. chopped almonds Drop of food colouring Pour over shortbread base and cool few hours until gloss disappears. Cut in squares. PUDDIN' COOKIES Audrey Fast Mix well: 3/4 c. biscuit mix 1/4 c. salad oil 1 pkg. instant pudding mix (any l egg flavour) Form into small balls, flatten with hand on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 min. at 350F. Makes about 3 doz.
