That’s the unofficial motto for the — CORE program, one part of the UCFV ‘Success Centre at the UCFV Marshall “Road annex. UCFV Access & Continuing Education, Human Resources Development Canada, .. and the Ministry of Education, Skills & ". Training, is a five-day workshop that . helps participants learn skills to overcome barriers to employment, become more able to make informed career decisions, . ~ develop an effective resumé, and make use of the on-site Career Resource - Centre. There is also an optional confidence- building workshop that may be taken on... Dec. 11 completion of the CORE program. The three-day workshop takes participants . through a series of interviews, familiarizing them with the whole. interview process. . Success Centre case manager Martin den Haan adds that the CORE program’ is available to. people who are not 7 working for a variety of reasons. “We help clients determine what the ’ barriers are, what the motivations are, and what they can do to overcome the barriers,” says den Haan. CORE is only one of several pre- employment programs and services offered at the Success Centre. One such © _ program is Unique Prospects, an assessment and career planning program designed to help clients identify and _ overcome learning difficulties, get out of emotional ruts, and develop positive action plans. _ Another is Choices, : an employment! and career option program that helps ° participants gain a better understanding of: _ their interests, skills, and values, and helps them develop career paths and job search techniques. Through UCFV — Continuing Education, Choices also ‘provides participants with employment’ skills and credentials such as Occupational First Aid Level I, Foodsafe Level I, WHMIS, and Serving it Right.
