JAM SQUARES Jessica Hoogland 1/2 ce sugar 1/3 ce margarine 1 ce flour 1 egg, beaten 1 tsp. baking powder _ 1/2 to 3/4 c. strawberry or Pinch of salt | blackberry jam Grated rind of 1 lemon Combine sugar and dry ingredients and grated rind. Cut in margarine and add egg. Press 2/3 of this mixture into an 8 x 8 inch pane Then spoon jam onto top. Press leftover mixture over jam. Bake 20 minutes at 350°. OATMEAL BARS Linda DeJong 1/2 ce shortening 1/4 tspe salt 3/4 ce brown suger 3/4 ce milk L Ce S100 l ce rolled oats 1/2 ce baking powder 3/4 ce raisins Cream together shortening and sugar. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in oats and raisins, mix well. Spread in greased 8 inch square pan. Bake in 350° oven for 45 minutes. When cool, spread with plain or coffee frosting. WRICKETY UNCLE : Lana Verdonk 4 ce rolled oats l ce. margarine 1 1/2 ce. brown sugar Pinch of soda Cook sugar, margarine and soda until boiling. Remove from heat and add oats and stir. Pat into greased 9 x 12 inch pan and bake at 350° for 8 to 10 minutes. When cool, frost with chocolate frosting or melt one 12 ounce package of chocolate chips while still warm and spread and cool 5 minutes and cut before chocolate hardens. SPECIAL K BARS Linda DeJong 1 ce sugar 1 (6 oz.) pkge chocolate chips 1 ce. white Karo syrup 2 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips 1 1/2 ce peanut butter 6 ce Special K cereal Dissolve sugar and syrup over low heat. Add peanut butter and Special K. Press into 10 x 15 inch pan. Melt chips and spread over top. Cut and refrigerate. a _ or | | q
