Grease and line with waxed paper a 9x5x3 loaf tin. In sifter place first four ingredients. In large bowl place nuts dates and cherries. Sift flour mixture over these. Mix with hands until nuts and fruits are well coated. Beat eges until foamy, add vanilla, stir into nut mixture until well mixed. Spread in pan evenly. Bake until done, about 1 hr. and 45 minutes. Cool in pan. Peel off paper. Cool on rack. Wrap in aluminum foil. Store in refrigerator. Will keep. California Dates are best.
