With the approach of the hunting
season, hunters and would be hunters
should exercise the greatest possible
care in hunting and shooting over
farms in the distriet. Sometimes
pillets meant for a duck or a pheas-
ant, finds a mark in some human or
animal.

A few weeks ago about fifty grains
of buckshot were taken from the body
of a seven year old boy. The little
fellow was closing the chicken coops,
when he became the target of some-
one with a shotgun, who by the way,
was shooting out of season. The™boy
‘screamed with pain and the hunters
were heard to hustle off in a car.
Many complaints are heard annual-
ly of the action of hunters in cutting
wire fences, leaving gates open, and
otherwise making themselves a nui-
sance to farmers, as they hunt across
the country for game.

Quite a number of farm property
owners are forbidding the privilege of
hunting over their lands. This ac-
tion is due in many instances to wil-
ful damage to property.

Hunters will conserve to themselves
the sport they enjoy by observing the
rules of the game, and particularly in
safeguarding the lives and property of
owners, whose land they may be
hunting over.

‘The shooting season to many rural
residents is nothing short of a night-
mare— made so by careless, indiffer-
ent or inexperienced hunters.

E. Dickinson Urges Formation Of
Fraser Valley Football League

HUNTINGDON SCHOOL
DESTROYED BY FIRE

Fire totally destroyed Huntingdon
school Monday morning, the efforts of
a volunteer brigade, assisted by the
Sumas chemical engine being of no
avail. Very few furnishings were sal-
yaged from the building.

It seems that the conflagration
started from a faulty flue, shortly af-
ter Janitor Waterston had started the
fire in the furnace. The structure was
of frame construction, containing two
rooms. Until another building is er-
ected, the “cement store” in Hunting-
don village will be used.

Over $600 has been collected in big
game license fees by the Huntingdon
customs staff this season, paid by
American sportsmen. In addition to
the game license fee of $25 for each
hunter, a head tax of $25 is assessed
upon each moose, grizzly and bighorn
head exported, and $15 for each mule
deer or elk.
