DINNER ROLLS 4 cups flour 1 tablespoon shortening 1 teaspoon salt 1% cups milk 6 teaspoons baking powder Mix to smooth dough; turn out on floured board; knead well to make smooth. Cut into small pieces to make rolls about 4/2 inches long by 2 inches wide; form into smooth roll with square ends. Place on greased pans far apart and stand in warm place 20 minutes. Brush with butter, bake in hot oven (450 degrees) for 10 minutes. Brush again with butter; bake 5 minutes and serve hot. RYE AND CORN MEAL MUFFINS 1% cups rye flour 1 tablespoon sugar Yq cup corn meal 1 tablespoon shortening Y2 teaspoon salt 34 cup milk and water 4 teaspoens baking powder Mix dry ingredients, add liquid and melted shortening, beat well and bake 30 minutes in a hot oven (450 degrees). i, BROWN BREAD 3% cups graham flour 2 tablespoons melted shortening Y cup brown sugar Y2 cup molasses 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg Nuts or raisins 1% teaspoons soda Bake in slow oven (325 degrees) for 1 hour. WONDER BUNS 2 heaping tablespoons flour 1 cup sugar 2 heaping tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups boiling water 2 eggs well beaten When cold add 1 yeast cake dissolved in V2 cup water Add flour to make stiff as bread dough. Put in cellar 48 hours, kneading down each day. Make buns size of small eggs. Let rise until double their size. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. CORN MEAL MUFFINS 2 cups flour 1 cup milk 34 cup corn meal 2 eggs, beaten light Y cup butter 3 teaspoons baking powder Ya cup sugar Bake in hot oven (425 degrees) for 20 minutes. Can also be made into loaf. NUT BREAD 2 eggs 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 cups brown sugar 4 cups flour 2 cups milk 1 cup nuts Bake in slow oven (300 degrees) for 30 minutes. Makes 2 loaves.
