Dave Stephen is taking over as acting director, and Martin Cocking had been hired to fill in . for Dave as Community Relations coordinator, with a special focus on -convocation, special events, and website development. Martin has worked in community relations and registration- related positions at Northern Lights College and the University of Northern B.C. New Co-op faces Two UCFV business admin. degree grads are now gainfully employed as Cooperative Education coordinators. Dennis Halligan is the new Arts co-op coordinator, replacing Tanya Behrisch who took a position at SFU. Dennis hails from Rosedale, likes skiing, mountain biking, and jogging, and is interested in learning Spanish in order to help bring more of an international element to Co-op. Brent Newman is the new coordinator for Applied programs. Co-op veteran Rob Mitchell will be taking on the Science and Tech coordinator role. David Berrington left UCFV at the end of December for a Human Resource coordinator role in the private sector with a multi-discipline engineering firm called UMA Group Ltd. in Vancouver.as an . Human Resources Coordinator. He will be launching the HR function for the company. Susan Taylor will be working as the Employment Services clerk for the next four months in the newly renamed Centre for Cooperative Education and Employment Services. Susan is a Business Administration diploma grad working towards her degree. New Harassment coordinator Maggie Ross has been hired as the new Harassment Prevention coordinator, replacing Michelle Medlicott who is — now at SFU. Maggie will be located in the Continuing Education office area on the Abbotsford campus, and available Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sessionals Welcome to Michelle Wiens, Geography, and Lise Beauchesne, Social Services/ Social Work, who are teaching as sessionals this semester. New nursing instructors Two new instructors have joined the Nursing faculty, replacing Eleda McQuarrie and Mary Mersereau, who both left last summer. Kiyo Matsumo lives in Chilliwack and has a Master of Applied Science degree from McGill. Karen Davidson lives in White Rock and was teaching for Douglas and Kwantlen before joining UCFV. She has a BSN from the University of Alberta, an MSN from UBC, and a midwifery certificate from England. Her specializations are , maternity and clinical teaching, and she’s also conversant with community health nursing. AUCC, continued from page one our degree programs. will be greatly enhanced by our membership in AUCC because it includes all of the most reputable universities in Canada. “The process of gaining membership ~ included an evaluation by three . university presidents from across the country,” Jones explained. “They also made several recommendations, such as the need to continue to develop library resources, which will be very helpful in the future development of UCFV. “Our membership in AUCC will provide many forums in which faculty, staff and students will be able to exchange ideas with colleagues from across the country.” UCFV’s membership in AUCC will also benefit faculty members pursuing research funding, as membership enhances an institution’s credibility among funding bodies.
