4 q 4 HISTORICAL NOTES The Parish of West Vancouver began in a modest way with the purchase of the present lots in 1933 and the erection of a small building to provide for the pupils enrolled in the Sunday School. By 1941 the regular Services of the Church were provided, largely by students from the Anglican Theo- logical College. After separation from the mother Church of St. Stephen's, and being linked with St. Francis-in-the-Wood, Caulfeilds, the need for additional facilities was met with the erection of the Parish Hall in 1947. Another step forward was taken when the Parish became self-supporting in April, 1953. St. Christopher's Church was opened and dedicated by the Bishop of New Westminster on March 22nd, 1956. Itis widely recognized as one of the most attractive modern Churches in our Province, with its interesting use of wood, local granite and stained glass. Since then the Crypt has been completed along with other improvements and a fine pipe organ was installed and used for the first time in 1963. St. Christopher's is a "family Church" and tries to serve everyone through her various organizations, caring for the spiritual needs of all her people. If you have no Church home, we invite you to come to St. Christopher's during your resi- dence in West Vancouver. Or you may like to pay us a visit and share the friendly atmosphere that exists among the members of our Parish family. 299 -A- West Vancouver, B, C.
