86 SUPPER DISHES HOME MADE TOMATO SOUP - Mrs. H. Watson Bring tomatoes to boil in another sauce pan, heat required milk quickly. Put 1/2 tsp soda in both tomatoes and milk and stir. Then add tomatoes to milk add salt and pepper serve immediately or else it will curdle. TOMATO SOUP - Mrs. L. A. Ardiel. Large basket sliced tomatoes 6 big onions 1 stock chopped celery 1 doz. whole cloves Boil till tender and sieve. Add 3/4 cups white sugar 1/4 cup salt 1 tsp pepper 1/2 cup butter 3/4 cup flour mixed with water Boil and seal while hot in sterile jars. CHEESE OMELETTE - Sprinkle bread crumbs in buttered dish, chop fine 1/4 lb cheese and add to bread crumbs. 2 eggs beaten 1 cup milk Beat whites of eggs and add to above mixture, sprinkle few crumbs on top and small piece of butter. Bake in oven until set. SPANISH RICE - Mrs. Sid Miller. 1/4 cup butter 5 small onions 1/2 cup cheese (grated) 1 can tomatoes 6 tbls uncooked rice Melt butter in pan and cook fine mince onions in this. Add tomatoes, rice and cheese. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake 1 1/2 hours in moderate oven. Wax left one hour to dry before polishing will give a higher lustre and polish much easier. _
