HAM BANANA ROLL 4 thin slices of boiled ham Prepared mustard 4 firm bananas 114 tablespoons butter or margarine Cheese sauce Spread each slice of ham lightly with mustard. Peel bananas. Wrap a slice of prepared ham around each banana. Brush tips of bananas with butter or margarine. Place ham rolls in a greased shallow bak- ing dish and pour cheese sauce over them. Bake in a moderate oven (350°F.) 30 min- utes or until bananas are tender—easily pierced with a fork. Serve hot with the cheese sauce from the baking dish. Four servings. Cheese Sauce 114 tablespoons butter or margarine 114 tablespoons flour 4% cup milk 114 cups grated sharp cheese Melt butter or margarine in saucepan, add flour and stir until smooth. Stir in milk slowly, add cheese and cook stirring constantly until sauce is smooth and thickened. Makes 1 cup. —JESSIE CLELAND CHICKEN A LA KING Combine: 1 can chicken a la king 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup Some extra boned chicken from can or jar 4 cup milk Heat the above in saucepan thoroughly and serve over fresh boiled hot rice. —EDNA GARBUTT CHICKEN AND MUSHROOM SOUP SOUFFLE 1 can mushroom soup 4 egg yolks, beaten l4 lb. nippy cheese, diced pepper : 2 cups diced chicken 4 egg whites 1% cup slivered blanched almonds Method: Heat soup in double boiler, add small amount of hot soup to egg yolks. Add remaining hot mixture and cook 2 minutes. Add cheese and stir until melted, season to taste. Fold in beaten egg whites and pour into 114 quart casserole. Sprinkle with almonds.
