LATTA 1144 cups raisins 1 tsp. soda lo cup water 1 tsp. nutmeg 14 cup shortening 14%4cups flour 34 cup brown sugar 1 egg Boil raisins in water slowly for 20 minutes. Add shortening, sugar and other ingredients. Bake 20 minutes in oven 375 degrees. WHITE BREAD CONTRIBUTED 2 yeast cakes 1 tbsp. shortening lo cup warm water 4 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. sugar 4 cups milk (scalded) ltbsp. salt 12 cups flour Add yeast to 2 tsp. sugar and % cup lukewarm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add sugar, salt and shortening to milk and cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and % the flour. Beat well. Add enough flour to make stiff dough. Knead again and let rise. Shape in loaves and let rise once more. Bake at 400 degrees for ten minutes. Reduce temp. to 375 degrees for 35 minutes. SCONES CONTRIBUTED 3 cups flour 1 egg 14 cup sugar (or less) 2 tsp. baking powder 1 cup butter Y% tsp. salt Rub ingredients together and add enough sweet milk to roll out. Cut in rounds size of tea plate (then divide). Bake 12 to 15 minutes in oven 450 degrees.
