TOMATO BAKED BEANS 1 lb. dried beans 1¥2 tsp. salt 8 oz. tomato sauce 2 tsp. Worchester sauce ¥3 cup ketchup 5 slices bacon halved 1 onion chopped Brown sugar Wash beans, add 6 cups water, bring to boil. Boil 2 minutes, remove, let stand one hour. Simmer till tender. To 1 cup bean liquid, add tomatu sauce, ketchup, onion, salt and Worchester sauce. Add to beans. Put in 2-qt. baking dish. Put bacon on top. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. A. Finley CALIFORNIA PILAFF 1 Ib. ground beef ¥3 cup finely chopped onion 2-3 tbsp. fat Y2 cup rice uncooked 4¥2 oz. can chopped ripe olives 2 cups hot water (¥2 cup) 6 oz. can tomato paste (3% cup) ¥Y3 cup finely chopped green 1¥2 tsp. salt pepper 4 tsp. pepper Heat oven to 350°. Brown meat in hot fat over medium heat. Crumble with fork. Add rest of ingredients. Stir to get all brown from pan. Pour into 2-qt. baking dish. Bake one hour. Six servings. Doreen Olynyk GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE ] lb. ground beef ]1 can tomato soup 2 med. onions, chopped Potato chips 1 cup cooked rice 1 can mushrooms ] cup cooked macaroni Brown the beef and onions together in frying pan. Then add the rice, macaroni, soup and mushrooms. Mix all ingredients well and sprinkle crushed potato chips on top. Bake in slow oven 300° for one hour. Makes six generous servings.
