HOT MILK SPONGE CAKE 2 eggs * teasp. salt 1 cup sugar % cup milk 1 cup flour 1 tbls. shortening, 1 teasp. baking powder. heaping Beat the eggs until doubled in bulk. Grad- ually add sugar, beating until all is used. Heat the milk and shortening almost to a boil. Sift flour and measure 1 cup, sift again with baking powder and salt. Fold into egg and sugar mix- ture. Fold in hot milk and shortening a little at a time. Put in 8'' x 2" pan. Grease the bottom of the pan, but not the sides. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. This cake is nice to put any kind of fresh fruit on top.
