Waterproof Clothing, Rut Brand Canvas Goods, ‘ Dry-Bak’ Clot Manufacturers Venetian Blinds and hing a New Florescent . Lights Installed In Fitting Rooms While florescent lighting was considered when the artificial il- lumination of Daly’s new store was being planned early this year, it was decided that marked im- provements in these new lights are still being made and they could probably be installed to bet- ter advantage and at less expense at a later date. However, advan- tage was taken of the peculiar “daylight” properties of florescent lighting. To enable men and wo- men to match colors in clothing ensembles or choose new colors with confidence when dark win- ter days nullify even the best na- tural lighting, florescent lights have been installed in both men’s and women’s fitting rooms. These large rooms are situated toward the back of the drygoods depart- ment off a hallway leading ‘to one of the stock rooms. WAR DELAYING FIXTURES FOR BIG NEW STORE Even at the late hour at which this Second Section of THE NEWS goes to press, it is not known whether the special electric fix- tures for the night illumination of Daly’s new store will arrive in time for the opening this week- end. If not, temporary fixtures will be arranged, J. S. Daly de- clares. The fixtures, being manu- factured at a large Eastern plant, have been on order for two months but, it is understood, war orders which have, of course, pre- cedence over all other business today, have caused the delay in the arrival of the fittings. PICTURES IN THIS SECTION OF “NEWS” — TAKEN BY W. H. BEST Most of the iilustrations in this special section of THENEWS were taken especially by Photographer W. H. Best of Clayburn. They in- clude the picture of the new store and of the old “Mill” store, and the individual pictures of Mr. Daly, Miss Green, Miss deVries, Mr. Bennett, and Mr. Allman. The interior scéne of the Authier Bros. pioneer store is reproduced by Mr. Best from an old print loaned by Mrs. T. C. Coogan of Portland, ‘| Ore., a former resident. The large picture of Abbotsford on Page 17 was taken by Mr. Best for THE NEWS last July. J. S. DALY BUILDS (Continued from Page 9) gressive organizations.
