CHERRY GINGER LOAF 1 c. margarine 1 14 c. sugar ee 4 eggs 1 c. chopped cherries 3s c. flour 1 c. chopped ginger 4 tsp. baking powder Cream first 3 ingredients together. Sift next four ingredients together. Combine with as little beating as possible. Add fruit last, powdered with a little flour (about 4% cup). Turn into’ well-greased loaf tins and bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees or until done. Eleanor Dawson DATE ORANGE CAKE (DELICIOUS) 4c. butter or 1 tsp. baking powder margarine 1 c. sour milk (may 1 c. white sugar use buttermilk powder) 2 eggs 1 tsp. soda dissolved * c. chopped walnuts in 1 tbsp. hot water Grated rind of 1 c. chopped dates 1 orange 2 ¢. £i6ur 4 tsp. salt Cream butter, sugar, orange rind and add eggs and beat well. Add sifted flour and baking powder alternately with the milk. Fold in nuts and dates and finally soda. Pour into an 8x8 greased pan and bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. This is a fine moist cake. Topping for Cake: Mix juice of 1 orange with *% c. of sugar. Pour this over the baked cake and let stand for a few minutes before removing from pan.
