botsford. She is a guest at the

Douglas Hartley, 8-year-old son
of Mr. and Mrs. James Hartley of
Vancouver was seriously injured
near Cultus Lake on Sunday when
the horse which he was riding
bolted, throwing him against a
tree. Mr. A. Hartley and Mr. D.
Shogren of Abbotsford summoned
aid. Douglas was later taken to
the Vancouver General Hospital.
The engagement is announced
of Catherine, second daughter of
Mrs. Reid and the late Dani S.
Reid of Vancouver, formerly of
Abbotsford, to Mr. William Borden
McPhee, eldest son of Mr. and
Mrs, A. M. McPhee of Abbots-
ford. The wedding will take place
quietly September 12.

that only scrap aluminum should
be donated. Disused pots and pans,
broken electrical equipment, parts
of washers, sweepers, or automo-
biles, discarded gadgets or sport
equipment. All dre welcome cop-
tributions. We are not asking for
any aluminum articles now in use,
the donation of which would mean
replacement by something else,

JUNIOR CLUB ACTIVITIES
SET CANADIAN RECORD

The month of September will
see the judging of the numerous
calf, swine, poultry, potato and
grain clubs completed in the Fra-
ser Valley. Club members have
had a very successful season cli-
maxed by a record entry of calves
in the Vancouver Pxhibition. The
showing in the junior sections at
Vancouver this year was a record
for” Western Canada, if not for
all of Canada.

CELEBRATES
83rd BIRTHDAY

James “Dad” Sellman celebrated
his 88rd birthday on August 26
and many friends from Chilliwack,
Cloverdale and local points called
during the day. He received nu-
erous gifts and cards and refresh-
ments were served. Mr. Sellman
is a native of Sussex and came
here 20 years ago. He makes his
