STAY-UP CHOCOLATE CHIPS Dorothy Smith 1/2 c. shortening 2 tbsp. cornstarch 2/3 c. brown sugar 2/3 c. chopped walnuts 1 egg 1/2 c. chocolate chips, or 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour semi-sweet chocolate, chopped 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. vanilla Pinch salt Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients. Add nuts and chocolate. Add vanilla. Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven 350F for 10/15 min. or until done. FRIDGE FANCIES Kay Baher 1 c. white sugar 3 eggs 1 c. brown sugar i/2 tsp. cinnamon G-ยข4 flour 1/2 tev. salt 1 c. butter 1/2 tsp. soda 1 c. shortening Mix and knead well. Divide into 4 or 6 equal parts. To each portion add 1/2 cup of one of the following: Coconut, chocolate. chips, candied cherries, chopped dates, candied ginger. Shope into rolls. neep in fridge until ready to slice and bake.
