Ke O, Basketball playoffs The UCFV women’s basketball team finished first in league play this season, losing only one game — a close one — to Douglas College by a 59-58 score. The women wrapped up their league season with a solid 89-54 win over Trinity Western on Friday. They will meet Trinity Western again this week as they host them in the first game of a best of three playoff series next Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Clearbrook Community Centre. The winner of that semi-final playoff series will advance to the provincial finals, also a best of three series. The B.C. college champions will then proceed to the nationals in Ontario from March 17-22. Athletic coordinator Jane Antil says the Cascades, ranked third, have a chance at winning it all. “They have the talent, but they’d have to play well, and they have a tendency to get tense and make mistakes in pressure situations.” The men wrapped up their season last Friday as well, and did not make the playoffs.
