ROYAL CREAM LOAF % c, butter 1 ce. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. lemon extract 1% ¢. rich milk or thin cream 1 ec. bread flour % ce. cornstarch 3 tsp. baking powder Cream butter, add sugar slowly, then beaten egg yolks and flavoring. Add milk, a little at a time, sift flour, baking powder and cornstarch together and add. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in greased loaf pan in moderate oven, 375°F. 35 to 45 minutes. TOMATO SOUP CAKE 144 ¢. butter or margarine 1 tsp. vanilla 1 ec sugar 1 tsp. cloves 1 egg 1 tin tomato soup 2 ¢. flour % c. walnuts 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. raisins Cream. butter and sugar; add egg. Sift dry ingredients and add. Add 1 tea- spoon baking soda to the tin of tomato soup and let stand for five minutes. Add this to the first mixture. Add vanilla, 1 cup raisins, and % cup walnuts. Bake in moderate oven. This may be served with a plain vanilla icing, or hot with a vanilla sauce. ABC CAKE 1 ec. sugar 1 ec. milk 14 ¢, butter Whatever fruit or flavoring de- 2 ¢. flour sired. 2 tsp. baking powder Cream sugar and butter. Add flour, baking powder and milk, and fruit or flavoring. CREAM PIE CAKE (Delicious warm) 34 c, sugar 1 egg 3 tbsp. butter 1% ¢. flour %c. milk 2 tsp. baking powder Pinch of salt Mix and put in one large layer tin two inches deep. Bake in a moderate oven. When partly cool, split and fill with filling. FILLING %e. sugar Pinch of salt 3 egg yolks Vanilla 2144 ¢. milk Cornstarch Mix all ingredients and put in to cook in a double boiler adding just enough cornstarch to thicken. MYSTERY CAKE 1% ec. pastry flour 2 tbsp. flour 1 tbsp. icing sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 34 c. butter or margarine 1 ec. walnuts %c. cocoanut 2 well beaten eggs 14% ¢c. brown sugar (scant) Vanilla, Mix well flour, sugar, and butter. Press into a 9 x 9 inch pan, cook 10 minutes in a 350°F. oven. Mix cocoanut, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, walnuts, eggs and vanilla and put on top of the first part.
