PECAN DREAMS 1/4 lb. butter 2 rounded tbsp. fruit sugar Cream well and add: 1 cup flour 1 tsp. water 1 tsp. vanilla salt 3/4 cup chopped pecans, brazils or walnuts Roll and bake - 300° for 30 mins. While hot, roll in sugar. - Mrs. Eric Crossin. FRUIT MIX FINGERS Combine 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of shortening and 1/4 cup of icing sugar. Rub into crumbs and press evenly into the bottom of pan. Partly cook. Combine 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 1 package of fruit mix, 2 tbsp. of flour and 1/2 tsp. of baking powder. Spread over the partly cooked mixture and bake 1/2 hour. Poirier. 54 ALMOND DELIGHT 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 cup icing sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup butter About 1/2 cup currant or other tart jelly 2 eggs 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. soft butter 1 cup ground blanched almonds 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring Sift together flour, icing sugar and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Press evenly in ungreased 8 inch square pan. Bake in moderate oven 350° until very lightly browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven. Spread with jelly which has been broken up with a fork. Beat eggs lightly, add remaining ingred- ients, blending well. Pour over jelly layer. Return to 350° oven and bake until topping is lightly browned and set, about 40 to 45 minutes. Cool in pan, cut into bars. - Dorothy Crawford. BROWN SUGAR CHEWS l egg 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup sifted flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. soda 1 cup coarsely chopped diamond walnuts Stir together egg, brown sugar and the vanilla. Add sifted flour with salt and soda. Add crunchy walnuts. Bake 18 - 20 minutes in well-greased 8 inch square pan at 350°. Cookies should be soft when taken from oven. Cool in pan. Cut in squares.
