Sikh Champion Combats the Statements Made by
Mr. H. H. Stevens, M. P.

Toronto, Feb. 19—Dr. Sundar Sigh, in an interview here, combatted
the statements of Mr. H. H. Stevens, M. P. for Vancouver, who spoke to the
Women’s Canadian Club on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Stevens said Dr. Sunder
Singh was a seditionist and exploiter of his fellow-countrymen, to which the
Hindu champion replied that it was “an absolute lie and absurd.” He said:
“Mr. Stevens is posing as a champion of labor and is throwing his
adventurous spirit of former days in Vancouver into politics. He recognizes
the Sikhs in regard to raising loans for them to purchase real estate, but he
declines to recognize their primary right, that of citizenship.”
