MEAT PIE WITH OYSTERS. 1 lb. stewing veal (cut in pieces). 4 tablespoons salt pork. Method—Cook about 1 hour in small amount of water, then add 2 chopped onions, little parsley, salt, pepper, 1 clove garlic, pinch nutmeg, 1 cup cream sauce, pour over veal. Let cook another 20 minutes. Then place in dish, add layer of raw oysters on top. Cover with pastry. Bake half hour. —Patricia Beaubien. BEEF AND KIDNEY PIE. 2 pounds beef stew. 1 large kidney. 1 large onion. Salt and pepper to taste. Brown meat and kidney well. Add onion. Add enough water to barely cover. Simmer for 1 to 1% hours. Thicken gravy. Cover with pie crust and bake in oven. Peas or carrots may be added _ if vegetables are preferred. —Mrs. L. Matthews. PORK PIE. 2 lbs. chopped pork. 1 cup dry bread crumbs. 1 teaspoon savory. % teaspoon allspice. Cloves, nutmeg, 1 clove garlic. 2 large onions grated. Cook and bake as you would any pie. Have pie crust not too rich. This will make three pies, freeze and warm when needed. —Mrs. A. L. Beaubien. SHEPHERD’S PIE. Prepare mashed potatoes for a meal. Line a baking dish with a portion of these, then put into the centre, diced meat and left-over gravy. Season with salt and pepper. BARBECUED SPARERIBS. 2 lbs. pork spare ribs. 1 good sized onion. 1% cup catsup. 1, chili powder (or cayenne). 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. 106 1 cupful water. Method—Make a sauce of the water and seasonings. Season meat well with salt and pepper after it has been rub- bed with a little mustard. Put meat in roasting pan in alternate layers with sliced onions and sauce. Cover with tight lid and cook in 375° oven for about two hours. Baste frequently. -—Mrs. E. L. Hardie. KING EDWARD VII FAVORITE MEAT PIE. 2 lbs. round steak. 1% |b. beef kidney. Y pint oysters. 14 pint water. 14 lb. fresh mushrooms. 1 small onion chopped fine. Season cubes of meat with salt and pepper, adding chopped onion, then fry in tablespoon of butter until brown. Shake in 2 tablespoons flour —stew all carefully for 1% hours. Then add liquid and oysters. Place in deep dish until cold. Make rough puff pastry for crust, making a hole in cen- tre. Brush top with beaten egg and bake 30 minutes in hot oven. —Mrs. S. L. Loughnon. FAS. medium sized cabbage. Ib. (minced) round steak. small onion. egg. tablespoons flour. tablespoon water. teaspoon salt. 4 teaspoon pepper. Scoop centre out of cabbage. Mix meat, egg, flour, water, onion, salt and pepper. When blendid, stuff mixture into cabbage. Place in a cloth and boil 2% hours in salted water. Serve with melted butter. ee cee OO ce ce co cee fat Mrs. P. S. Bardal. — PICKLED CORN BEEF AND CABBAGE. 4 quarts water. 1 cup salt. 14 teaspoon saltpetre. Put in crock and stir well. Then take fresh beef flanks and beat with wooden potato masher till tender. Wash carefully and add a little salt
