SPICE CAKE
] cup raisins 1 egg
1 cup water 1¥2 cups flour | |
1 tsp. soda 1 tsp. baking powder
Y2 cup butter Vs tsp. cloves er
1 cup brown sugar Y2 tsp. cinnamon .

Simmer raisins in water for about 5 minutes. Add’ soda, then
let cool. Cream together butter, sugar and egg, add ‘raisin misture,
then the dry ingredients. Peiée.

Bake about 30 minutes at 375 degrees. oe

MERINGUE SPICE CAKE

5 tbsp. shortening Y2 tsp. soda

1 cup brown sugar 2 tsp. cloves

1 egg yolk YQ tsp. cinnamon
1% cups flour 2 cup sour milk
VY tsp. salt Y2 tsp. vanilla

Y2 tsp. baking powder

Spread in greased 8” x 8” pan. Top with following ‘meringue:
1 egg white Y2 cup sneRPSe nuts .
Y2 cup brown sugar

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. 2 ee

TOMATO SOUP CAKE

Scant Y2 cup shortening 1¥2 cups flour.
1 cup white sugar ice hn,
1 egg YZ tsp. cinnamon

1 can tomato soup 2 tsp. allspice

Y2 cup nuts Ym tsp. cloves

1 cup raisins 2 tsp. nutmeg

Cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat. Sift*dry  in-
gredients and add alternately with the soup. Lastly. add the 1 nuts and
raisins. : eg iat

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. a amen: ge
