WALTER JULIEN 1 cup butter (soften) 2 cups flour 1% cup granulated sugar 1 tbsp. corn starch Blend the above ingredients together and cool overnight. Bake in oven 275 degrees for 1 hour for cake or 10-12 minutes for cookies at 375 degrees. CHRISTMAS SHORTBREAD By MRS. FRANK CURRIE % lb. butter 3 cups flour % lb. lard 14 tsp. salt 34 cup icing sugar Sift flour, icing sugar and salt together and work well into butter and lard. Bake 350 degree oven until light brown. SCOTCH SHORTBREAD By MRS. W. L. ARCHIBALD 1 cup butter 2 cups flour (all purpose l% cup icing sugar flour ) Cream butter and sugar. Add flour gradually until flour is used up. Continue kneading then pat out on floured board. Roll out and cut into shapes or fingers. Bake in a floured pan for 30 minutes 300 degrees.
