EGGS To eliminate the dark rings that separate the yolks from the whites of hard boiled eggs, let cold water run over the egg immediately after cooking. To prevent an egg from cracking while it is boiling, pierce either end with a needle before placing in the water. When putting fresh eggs in the refrigerator put a pencil mark on the eggs bought the previous time. This prevents any eggs from being left in the refrigerator for any lengthy time. Egg stains on washable fabrics may be removed by soaking the garment in cold water for a short time before washing with soap.and water in the usual way. Soak in cold water. Scrape first if necessary. Sponge with carbon tetra- chloride. To chop hard-boiled eggs quickly, use the potato masher. FIBREGLAS DRAPERIES Soak in luke warm water with a mild detergent, drain, then hang while still damp, and gently smooth out hems and seams. Let dry. FLOORS Save old woollen socks and sweaters to use for polishing waxed floors. Put a couple of cups of vinegar into a half a pail of warm water and wash and polish furniture and hardwood floors. This keeps the high lustre in furniture and floors. To take water marks off hardwood floors use Kerosene. To take old wax off linoleum floors use varsol and steel wool. To clean old hardwood floors, sand the floor, shellac and varnish. For white stains on hardwood floors, put vaseline on the floors, leave, then wipe off, then treat with perfume. Use a wax stripper to take wax off on tile floors. % q q ' " FIRES For grease, gasoline, or most fires use baking soda to put it out. FREEZING Freeze fish, meat, vegetables, etc. in empty paper milk cartons. FRIDGE To whiten a fridge that has turned yellow use glass wax. ~ eS
