Add milk, vanilla and melted shortening, mix until smooth. Add nuts. Pour into greased casserole or 8" square cake pan. Mix brown sugar and cocoa, sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake in moderate oven 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve hot. Yield, 6 servings.
