Mix well and let stand over night. Pinch off pieces and flatten. —Mrs. F. Watt. Oatmeal Cookies lc. w. sugar, 1c. lard, 2 c. oatmeal, 2 c. flour, 1 tsp. each baking powder, soda, vanilla. Pinch salt. Date Drops 1 c. crisco, 1 c. w. sugar, % c. b, sugar, 3 eggs, 2% c. flour, 1 c. nutmeats, 1c. cherries, 1 c. dates, 1 tsp. soda, 3 tbsps. warm cherry juice, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 tsp. salt. Cream shortening and sugar well, add eggs, beat. Add cherry juice and soda. Add other ingredients. Drop on cookie sheet and bake about 20 mins. —R. Judd. Hermit Cookies l cup raisins (chopped), 11%4 cups brown sugar, 1 cup butter, pinch salt, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon all-spice, 8 tablespoons sweet milk, 1 teaspoon soda in milk. Enough flour to make stiff batter and drop from teaspoon and bake in oven 375 degrees. —Vi Hantscharuk. Chocolate Chip Kisses 2 egg whites, % teaspoon salt, % teaspoon of cream of tartar, 34 cup sugar, 3 plain chocolate bars.- Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar and salt, continue beating until eggs are stiff enough to hold up in peaks. Add sugar, 2 teaspoons full at a time, beating thoroughly after each ad- dition. Fold in chocolate chips and add vanilla. Drop from teaspoon on cookie sheet. Bake in slow oven 300 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pan while hot. —Vi Hantscharuk. Bridge Cake Rub together: 2 cups flour, 1 cup (scant) butter. Put in pan. Top part: 1% cups brown sugar, 1 cup nuts, 1 cup cocoanut, 1 cup cherries, 2 tablespoons flour, % teaspoon baking powder, 2 unbeaten eggs. Mix and spread on first mixture. : —Vi Hantscharuk.
