BUTTERCUPS I saw the dainty buttercups advancing in the wind, But oh, thee memories ‘they recalled and pictures to my mind, The bygone years returned again, when we were lad and lass, Out gathering golden sheaves of theme, among the long, green grass “Do you like butter’? we would cry, and to a milky throat Would hold a yellow buttercup, and its reflection note, “Oh yes you do”, we merrily would sing, and on our way Go skipping, tripping gleefully, the live long sunny day. But tho’ beyond recall those days, and carefree childish hours, A twofold pleasure we receive from these fair summer flowers, ‘The happy past we live again, by time made dearer still, But with the blossoms present now, our hearts with joy refill.
