Add part of milk and part of flour in which the baking powder has been sifted. Add remain- der of milk and flour and % teaspoonful salt. Lastly, fold in the beaten whites of eggs. | Bark. Part: Ingredients: 3 yolks of eggs | cup brown sugar 14 cup cooking molasses 1% cup sour milk Y% cup butter or substitute 1 teaspoonful each ground cloves, cinnamon, mace, soda 1 grated nutmeg 1% cups flour Beat the sugar and butter together well. Add yolks of eggs, which must have been beaten light. Add part of the milk, then the molasses; then the milk with the soda dissolved in it. Add the spices to the flour, with 14 teaspoonful salt, sift, and beat up. Paper. and butter a large pan. Drop alternate spoonfuls of the white and the dark, so cake will be streaked. This makes a large cake; this recipe makes an ordinary-sized cake. Bake in a moderate oven. Feather Cake Ingredients: 1 egg 1 cup sugar % cup milk 1% cups pastry flour tablespoonful cold butter 1 teaspoonful cream of tartar lZ teaspoonful soda Separate yolk of egg from white. Beat same. Beat the but- ter until like cream. Add the sugar and beat until very light. Add the yolk and continue to beat. Add part of milk, then part of flour. Then add the remainder of the milk and the rest of the flour, in which the cream of tartar and the salt and soda has been added. Then add the stiff-beaten white. oS ae in moderate oven.
