WALNUT BALLS 1/2 cup. shortening 2/3. cup granulated sugar 2 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 egg >» separated 11/2 cups sifted flour 1/2... tsp. salt 3/4. cup chopped cherries 3/4 cup chopped walnuts Mix ingredients and shape into balls. Beat egg whites until foamy. Dip balls in white and roll in walnuts. Place on greased sheet. Bake in hot oven, 400°, © for 15 minutes. - Pp. Poirier. PECAN STIX 1/2 cup butter 2 tbsp. icing sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla pi cup all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup chopped pecans These depend on butter, like shortbread. Cream butter and sugar until light, add icing sugar and beat light and fluffy. Add vanilla, then flour sifted with salt, working in well to make a crumbly mixture. Add pecans. Gather up small pieces of dough with the hands and shape in- to small log shapes that will hold together 2 inches long by 1/2 inch in diameter. Arrange about 1 1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Slow oven, 300°, for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately lift from sheet and PEANUT LOGS 1 cup crunchy peanut butter 1 cup icing sugar 1/2 cup chopped dates 1/2 cup chopped cherries 2 tbsp. butter Mix well and shape into small fingers. Place in refrigerator 24 hours. Melt 4 squares semi- sweet chocolate with 1/4 slice of parawax. Dip logs with tooth- pick into melted chocolate and place on wax paper to cool. - Mrs. Doug Greer. JIFFY CHOCOLATE BALLS 1 cup white sugar 1 cup cocoa 3/4 cup milk 1 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 cups rolled graham cracker crumbs, coconut or chopped nuts Bring sugar, cocoa and milk to a boil and boil 5 minutes. Be care- ful not to burn it. Add vanilla. Add the fine crumbs while hot. Let cool enough to form into balls. Roll balls in coconut or nuts. - D. Lawlor. GRAHAM WAFER DAINTIES 2 squares unsweetened chocclate pinch of salt 30 graham wafers, rolled fine 1 tin Borden's sweetened condensed milk (Eagle Brand) Melt chocolate in top of double boiler, add salt and condensed milk, then stir in graham wafer crumbs.
