Cream together short- ening, brown sugar and beaten eggs. Then alternately add flour mixture and milk, lemon or orange rind. Then add fruit. Topping: 2 eggs 1 cup brown sugar 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup Rice Krispies 1/2 cup walnuts Beat eggs, add sugar and vanilla. Add flour and baking powder (which have been sifted together). Add Rice Krispies and walnuts. Spread over previously baked-crust. Bake 25 minutes at 375°.
