Peardon DATE MARMALADE LOAF 2 c. sifted flour 3/4 ¢. milk 4 tsp. baking powder %c. shortening 3/4 tsp. salt 1 egg 4c. chopped dates 2 tsp. grated lemon 1/3 c. marmalade rind if/3 ¢. sugar Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add dates and mix till date pieces are coated with flour mixture. Cream shortening gradually. Add sugar and blend. Add egg and beat well. Mix in lemon rind and marmalade. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Bake in a greased 45x84 inch loaf tin in a 350 degree oven, for 1 hour. Eleanor Dawson PEANUT BUTTER BROWNIES 1 c. sifted flour 4c. peanut butter 1 tsp. baking powder lL @. suger 4% tsp. salt 1 egg 2 tbsp. margarine x Cc. milk 2 squares unsweetened ¥4 c. chocolate chips chocolate (2 oz.) Sift dry ingredients together. Melt margarine and chocolate. Add peanut butter and sugar and beat well. Mix eggs and milk and add alternately with dry mix. Spread evenly in a well greased 8''x8" pan.
